At a press joint statement with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Thursday, President Jokowi also noted that the two countries had come to an agreement to align their perception to support the Palestinians' struggle for independence.
"The friendship between Indonesia and Tanzania has been further solidified by the visit of President Hassan to Indonesia. We have agreed to strengthen our countries' relations by forging concrete cooperation in various sectors," he remarked.
Jokowi noted that Indonesia would organize the Indonesia-Africa Forum II this year as an effort to enhance the country's ties with African countries, especially Tanzania, as one of its main partners.
The Indonesian head of state remarked that he and President Hassan had discussed workable measures for intensifying bilateral cooperation, including by pushing for the formulation of a preferential trade agreement (PTA) to increase the volume of bilateral trade transactions.
"The negotiations (on the PTA) will launch this year," Jokowi stated, adding that Indonesia is also pushing for the formulation of a bilateral investment treaty to ensure investment protection.
The two countries, he said, had committed to intensifying cooperation in the natural oil and gas sectors while noting that the Indonesian Government had delegated state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina to help 100 workers of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Cooperation to enhance their capacity.
During the meeting, Jokowi said, Indonesia also conveyed its commitment to collaborating in the agriculture sector with Tanzania, including by assisting the African country in revitalizing its Farmers' Agriculture and Rural Training Center in Morogoro region.
The president further noted that both nations had agreed to forge health cooperation through intensive coordination between the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and the Tanzanian Medicine and Medical Authority to expedite the registration process of pharmaceutical products.
