Jepara, Central Java (ANTARA) - General Elections Commission (KPU) in Jepara, Central Java, set three alternatives to deliver election logistics to Karimunjawa, Karimunjawa, Jepara, in early February 2024 or earlier than other areas to anticipate wave and weather at sea.

The delivery is planned for February 3, 2024, considering that weather conditions in the Jepara waters are still conducive for sailing on that date.

"During normal weather in the Jepara waters, the delivery will use the Siginjai Passenger Motor Ship (KMP). Meanwhile, when the weather is bad with high waves, the delivery will be using the Pelni Ship from Semarang," Chairman of Jepara KPU, Ris Andy Kusuma, stated in Jepara on Monday.

For the second alternative, the Jepara KPU must send election logistics for Karimunjawa to Semarang first to be later transported by the Pelni Ship.

Meanwhile, the third alternative is to use a warship belonging to the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) for bad weather in the Jepara waters and when the usual ship for delivery is not available.

"We have also coordinated with the Indonesian Navy post in Jepara. However, when alternatives one and two are not possible, we will coordinate directly with the Indonesian Navy in Semarang to use their warship to send election logistics to Karimunjawa," he revealed.

Meanwhile, delivery of election logistics to other sub-districts is scheduled for February 8, 2024, and will arrive at each voting post one day before voting, Kusuma stated.

The total number of permanent voters in Karimunjawa Sub-district is 7,517 people and is spread across four villages: Karimunjawa, Nyamuk, Kemujan, and Parang.

According to Kusuma, there will be 32 voting posts (TPS) in Karimunjawa Sub-district, with 15 TPS in Karimunjawa Village, 11 TPS in Kemujan Village, four TPS in Parang Village, and two TPS in Nyamuk Village.

He also remarked that the weather in Jepara waters from December to February is usually dominated by high waves.

Currently, the Jepara KPU is still completing the packaging of election logistics into ballot boxes for all types of ballot papers.

The 2024 presidential election is scheduled on February 14, 2024, with three presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs: Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
