Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated that the 2024 Monthly Short Film Festival (Fesbul) offers numerous innovative programs that can encourage the development of the country’s film industry.

The programs consist of workshops in 10 cities in Indonesia, interactive discussions with film industry professionals, international seminars, Fesbul film screenings, and the 2024 Fesbul Award Night.

The short film festival is held monthly in the hopes of creating an equitable social impact and becoming a targeted, impactful, and punctual program, he noted in a written statement received here in Jakarta on Monday.

The first regions for registration for the festival are Yogyakarta and Central Java, with the registration period on February 2-12, 2024.

Minister Uno stated that the festival is open for various film categories, such as fictional short films, documentaries, animation, experimental, and hybrid films.

Chosen films will receive appreciation in the form of publication in Fesbul and the ministry’s social media accounts, publication in national media, and becoming a nominee in the Monthly Film Festival.

The 2024 Fesbul winners will also have the opportunity to participate in international film festivals akin to how the six best films from the 2023 Fesbul participated in the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France.

Congratulations to the winner. Hopefully, your participation in the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival opens the possibility of collaborations with several international parties, the minister stated.

Minister Uno also remarked that Fesbul is the government’s commitment to developing the country’s film industry as well as opening job opportunities in the creative industry field.

It has been proven that a short film production involves at least 30 creative workers, he stated.
