Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned airport operator company PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) stated that it had accommodated the flights of a total of 5.5 million passengers via 15 airports during the January 2024 period.

The figure marks an increase of five percent as compared to 5.2 million passengers recorded in January last year.

"The increase in the number of passengers at the beginning of this year sends a positive signal to the company. This feat continues the positive records we achieved over the year 2023," President Director of AP I Indah Preastuty noted in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

She remarked that growth is also recorded in the volume of cargo mobility in January 2024 while noting that AP I had served 44,738 tons of cargo during the period, thereby translating to an increase of 19 percent as compared to 37,530 tons in January last year.

Preastuty expressed optimism that the 15 airports operated by AP I would demonstrate a higher level of operational performance this year in terms of the traffic volume of passengers and cargo.
