"The goal is to be able to invest and participate in the Hajj ecosystem," BPKH head Fadlul Imamsyah informed here on Thursday.
He said that strengthening the Hajj ecosystem is a very crucial aspect of the operational management of Hajj implementation and financial/investment management.
According to him, the cooperation carried out by the BPKH will not only take the form of investment that will generate returns for Indonesian pilgrims, but also focus on providing more optimal services going forward.
He expressed the hope that henceforth, for accommodation, hotels, which have so far been rented directly from hotel owners in Saudi Arabia, would be made a part of the Hajj ecosystem, especially through BPKH investment.
As for catering, BPKH is ready to invest in providing food services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims while they are in Saudi Arabia, both in Mecca and Medina.
"Insya Allah (God willing), we will be part of the provision of three meals a day catering and hopefully, it will not only provide good services but also create a better atmosphere for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims," he said.
Based on the agreement between the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, catering services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims must meet the 30-percent local component requirement.
"Hopefully, from the money we spend, namely Rp20 trillion (around US$1.28 billion) for the operations of Hajj there, some will return to Indonesia in the form of results of investment and profits resulting from investment in the accommodation and catering sectors," he said.
