The ICJ hearing is taking place to respond to issues regarding the legal status and consequences of continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
"The hearing is a follow-up to the request of advisory opinion from the United Nations' General Assembly," the ministry stated through their official channel in X, also known as Twitter, observed here, Sunday (February 18).
Indonesia is among the 53 countries and three international organizations delivering oral statements before the ICJ judges in the session on February 19-26, 2024.
To prepare Indonesia's oral statement, Marsudi gathered inputs from international law experts through an open discussion concerning international law enforcement to support Palestinian independence last January.
The minister stated that inputs from the experts will bolster her side's efforts to establish a comprehensive legal opinion to expose international law violations committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.
"Indonesia supports the UN Security Council's efforts to seek advisory opinion from the ICJ. The international law should be upheld," she emphasized.

Marsudi also underscored the need to respect the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.
"Israeli occupation of Palestine that has been ongoing for more than 70 years will never diminish the Palestinian people's rights of independence," the minister stated.
The UN Security Council, on January 17, 2023, requested an advisory opinion from the ICJ regarding the legal consequences of Israeli policies and actions in occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
Responding to the request to ICJ, Indonesia affirmed its commitment to actively participate by providing its own legal opinion. Apart from the upcoming oral statement on February 23, Indonesia also presented its written statement to the ICJ in July 2023.
Representing Indonesia, Marsudi argued that Israeli actions in Palestinian territories, including the construction of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and to change the legal status of Jerusalem, are illegal under international laws.
She emphasized that Israeli illegal actions should be stopped and the country should be held accountable for them. The minister also urged the international community to refrain from supporting Israel and recognizing the legality of Israeli actions.
