Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah held a meeting with Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) for Indonesia and Timor-Leste Simrin Singh to discuss realization of the decent work program in Indonesia.

According to a statement here on Thursday, Minister Fauziyah called on the ILO to continue to realize the decent work program in Indonesia and help overcome challenges in realizing support for the Decent Work Country Program (DWCP) for Indonesia.

"The decent work program is the main means for ILO to promote decent work as a key component of the national development strategy," Fauziyah stated during a meeting held at the Ministry of Manpower today.

Apart from discussing the issue of decent work as a national development strategy, Fauziyah also expressed hope that the ILO would support coordination between ministries and institutions as well as stakeholders in implementing the ILO Convention, especially those related to the Maritime Labor Convention.

"We need the ILO's role in facilitating coordination between stakeholders to respond to harmonization of regulations and implementation of decent work in the maritime sector," Fauziyah remarked.

Minister Fauziyah also expressed hope that the ILO would become a potential tripartite partner for Indonesia in the efforts to increase the level of understanding and compliance between employer groups and worker groups so as to minimize the possibility of occurrence of employment-related cases.

Fauziyah also called on the ILO to respond quickly to all employment issues globally.

"Hopefully, we can exchange information regarding cooperation between the ILO and Indonesia in employment," the minister remarked.
