West Java Acting Governor Bey Machmudin stated that the Sumedang district government is ready to disburse its contingency expenses to compensate residents whose houses were damaged by the storm.
"Meanwhile, for the damaged factories and warehouses, the district head will discuss the matter with Apindo (the Indonesian Employers Association) and the 14 affected companies," he said in a statement from his office on Friday.
The local authority will declare the emergency response status to bolster the disaster response in the district, he remarked, adding that he had received a disaster response report from the Sumedang district head.
According to the report, the local authority will not disburse the medical costs of residents who suffered minor injuries since they have returned home after being treated.
However, affected residents who require in-patient treatment at hospitals will have their medical costs covered by the authority.
