The National Alms Agency (Baznas) has been coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Cairo, Egypt, to prepare logistics required by a public kitchen in the southern Gaza city of Rafah to help Palestinians.
"One of our initiatives is striving to meet the needs of a public kitchen organized by the Egyptian Red Crescent at the Rafah border area," Baznas Vice Chairman Mokhammad Mahdum noted a statement received from the agency in Jakarta on Thursday (February 22).
He pointed out that it is critical to supply the public kitchen with the needed logistics, given that plenty of Palestinians are currently facing famine on account of Israeli aggression toward their homeland.
He said that the public kitchen is expected to provide food for thousands of Palestinian people displaced by the armed conflict between the Israeli occupation forces and Palestinian liberation fighters of Hamas.
"We believe that by providing proper access to food, we can contribute to the fulfillment of the basic needs of the Palestinians and slightly relieve them from the burden they are facing amid the dire situation," he remarked.
However, he emphasized that Baznas is in need of support and participation from all stakeholders to carry out humanitarian missions in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Hence, Baznas has been maintaining coordination with KBRI Cairo to fulfill the needs of the public kitchen, he stated.
"Let us show the world that solidarity and empathy know no geographical boundaries and cultural differences," he remarked.
Deputy Chief of Mission at KBRI Cairo M. Zaim Nasution remarked that Baznas had been relentlessly distributing humanitarian assistance for Palestinians through Egypt.
"All the efforts made by Baznas will greatly ease the suffering of the people of Palestine. Hopefully, Baznas will continue its deeds to help Palestine," he said.
