Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry stated that the Program to Increase the Use of Domestic-made Products (P3DN) is instrumental in boosting national economic growth.

The ministry's secretary general, Eko S. A. Cahyanto, noted in a written statement received here on Monday that the development of new factories and the employment of the domestic workforce proved that the program has enhanced the national economy.

The use of domestic products also directly boosts the national economic resilience, he highlighted.

Citing economic research, Cahyanto explained that for every Rp1 used to purchase domestic-made products, the country will get Rp2.2.

Hence, every government agency and institution utilizing domestic-made products will also benefit the national economy and the people's well-being, the official emphasized.

To realize the economic potentials, the ministry is organizing a business matching event in Bali to facilitate the meeting between industry actors as producers and their consumers, primarily entities utilizing the state budget for their procurement.

He said the government has identified the potential value of government spending utilized to purchase domestic-made products at Rp1,200 trillion (US$76.57 billion), made possible by the P3DN program.

"With the potential value in the central and regional authority levels, we are seeking to facilitate the meeting between state budget users and domestic product providers holding the TKDN (domestic component level) certificate," Cahyanto elaborated.

Apart from boosting the national economy, the requirement to use domestic products will also reduce dependence on imported products, he added.

"It is consistent with the ministry's import substitution policy that we are promoting now. We are optimistic that products made by our industries will be the master in its home," he remarked.
