We prioritize this because this woman has a disabled child.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini provided a new house and assistance to Ni Nyoman Sukarniasih, 67, who lives with a child with intellectual disability in Sausu village, Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi.
According to a statement issued by the ministry here on Wednesday, Sukarniasih and her family were living in a very poor condition in a house that had almost collapsed.
Taking note of their plight, Minister Rismaharini on Tuesday (March 5, 2024) sent a team to conduct an assessment.
"I heard this news and asked the team for assessment and (provide) assistance. We prioritize this because this woman has a disabled child," she informed.
The ministry then carried out an intervention and provided assistance such as daily necessities and took Sukarniasih to a hospital for a health check.
The ministry also helped construct a new house for her. The new residence has been built in front of her old one.
About 70 disaster alert personnel (Tagana), 16 village government elements, and members of the Parasida Hindu Dharma Indonesia (PDHI) were involved in the construction of the house.
Based on the minister's directive, the new house needed to be completed before the start of Ramadan.
The ministry also provided Social Rehabilitation Assistance (Atensi) in the form of nutritional needs, school supplies, personal hygiene kits, clothing, household appliances, blankets, and mattresses.
Sukarniasih also received entrepreneurial assistance in the form of four goats, durian, and avocado seeds to support her family's income.
Rismaharini also asked village midwives to conduct regular medical check-ups for Sukarniasih and her family.
The minister also called for including Sukarniasih in the Social Welfare Integrated Data.
She emphasized that cases like Sukarniasih's cannot be ignored and asked officers to actively reach out to beneficiaries who have not received assistance.
