Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) lauded the achievements and awards garnered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2023.

"The satisfaction index increased, and the ministry also received many international awards. We are very proud," Deputy Chair of Commission X of DPR RI Hetifah Sjaifudian stated during the work meeting with Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim on Wednesday.

Sjaifudian then called on the ministry to maintain good performance and also improve it until the end of the working period.

She also pressed for more detailed regulations in the Independent Curriculum to have a legal force and be continually implemented by the government in the next period.

"We have to focus on regulatory and technical aspects. There is no point to return," she emphasized.

Sjaifudian also laid emphasis on the development of an Independent Curriculum, School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds, and improvements in teachers' welfare in religious education.

"I hope religion-based education under the Religious Affairs Ministry can also benefit from such assistance and not only the regular school," she stated.

On the occasion, Makarim shed light on various performance achievements by his ministry, including the distribution of BOS funds reaching 99.87 percent in 2023, the appointment of 774,999 honorary teachers as state civil servants (ASNs) through the Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) in 2021-2023, and 79,259 formal schools that have received assistance in information and communication technology (ICT) from 2020 to 2023.

The ministry's stakeholder satisfaction index in 2023 also increased by 0.8 points as compared to 2022. Meanwhile, the stakeholder satisfaction index towards the Ministry of Education and Culture was recorded at 85.9 in 2022, while in 2023, the figure increased to 86.7.
