Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga has emphasized the importance of strengthening the human resource capacity of service providers in implementing Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Prevention (TPKS).

"(There is a need for) Strengthening the human resource capacity of our service providers, both in terms of professional and technical competence in providing assistance to women and child victims, including adequate budget support, good facilities, and infrastructure," Puspayoga expounded in a statement released here on Tuesday.

According to her, building the capacity of internal and external human resources, improving service units, and budgeting, including the provision of non-infrastructure special allocation funds (DAK) for women and child protection, are some measures that need to be carried out.

She further said that there is a need to empower agencies that oversee government affairs in the field of women's empowerment and child protection.

During this year's coordination meeting for handling cases of violence against women and children, the ministry and related agencies agreed to organize victim protection and recovery through 11 tasks and functions based on the Sexual Violence Prevention (TPKS) Law.

The ministry and related technical implementation units agreed to serve as coordinators for realizing integrated women and child protection services.

"Following up this commitment by organizing integrated women and child protection services with the main agenda of increasing service components and delivery," Puspayoga said.

Furthermore, she added, the ministry is seeking to improve the coverage and quality of the SAPA 129 call service, based on the authority of the central and regional governments.

Earlier, chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Bambang Soesatyo, called on the government to formulate long-term efforts to prevent the recurrence of violence against children in public spaces.

He said that violence against children is like an iceberg phenomenon, meaning there are many unreported cases.
