Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) encourages the media to help promote state companies in digital platforms.

"The media should become content creators for SOEs to host their advertisements," special staff to the SOEs Minister, Arya Sinulingga, said at the "Editors Talk" on Wednesday.

He added that the creative sector can collaborate with the media in creating content.

Currently, the ministry is intensifying news distribution on SOEs to make the dissemination of information massive, Sinulingga said.

As per the ministry's records, the number of news items related to SOEs in 2021 reached around 500,000 and increased to 1.6 million in 2023.

"There were 1.6 million news stories on SOEs in 2023, so it was an increase of three or four times," he said.

The government, through Presidential Regulation No. 32/2024 issued on March 20, emphasizes quality journalism as a vital element for a functioning democracy, requiring support from digital platforms.

According to the Cabinet Secretariat, the aspect of quality journalism was considered one of the important elements in the regulation, for realizing democracy as the life of the nation, which requires the support of digital platform companies.

The development of information technology has led to major changes in journalism practices, including the presence of digital platform companies.

Through the regulation, the government is organizing the digital platform ecosystem in conjunction with the media to support quality journalism.

The Ministry of SOEs has said that it sees digital economy opportunities and has pushed for creating an ecosystem through digitalization.
