Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) will dispatch two ambulance helicopters to facilitate emergency evacuation under Operation Ketupat 2024, aimed at ensuring a smooth Eid homecoming exodus.

"The Polri chief has instructed us to prepare aerial evacuation measures, considering that around 193 million people are expected to travel during this year's Eid homecoming exodus," said Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, Polri's Public Relations Division Head, on Wednesday.

After attending a roll call for Operation Ketupat 2024 in Jakarta, he noted that the two ambulance helicopters have been prepared in an effort to ensure immediate response to emergency situations such as traffic accidents, natural disasters, and unplanned childbirth.

"The ambulance helicopters have been positioned to anticipate weather-related issues and various emergency situations occurring along homecoming routes," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, Polri's Public Information Bureau Head, Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that the two ambulance helicopters belong to the Water and Air Police Corps (Polairud).

Helicopter Dauphin 365 N3 serves as an ICU helicopter equipped with high-level medical equipment, while NBO 105 specializes in aerial evacuation and treatments for mild injuries.

Andiko said that each of the helicopters is manned by three flight crews and three medics, comprising one doctor and two nurses.

"In this year's Operation Ketupat, we deploy the Operational Assistance Task Force, consisting of police medical teams. The ambulance helicopters can evacuate people from roads and seas to nearby hospitals," he remarked.

Earlier, the two ambulance helicopters were deployed to several missions, including those at the G20 Summit and races held in Mandalika Circuit.
