He said that the Navy vessels that have been kept on standby include patrol boats and search and rescue (SAR) boats for sea accidents.
Navy has also deployed several battalion-level and military units to help the National Police maintain security during the exodus flow, the holidays, and the return flow, he added.
"For Eid al-Fitr security, we support the 'Ketupat Operation.' Last time, the Indonesian Military Commander (General Agus Subiyanto) mentioned that we have prepared several battalion-level and military units for security. Whatever is needed by the National Police, we will prepare it for Eid security," he said.
Ahead of Eid, Navy has deployed one of its warships, KRI Banda Aceh-593, to transport 1,026 travelers and their motorbikes to Semarang, Central Java, and Surabaya, East Java.
The ship left Kolinlamil Pier in Jakarta on Friday and is scheduled to arrive in Semarang on Saturday and reach Surabaya on Sunday.
Ali explained that the Navy took the initiative for the free homecoming program because it wanted to help the government reduce the risk of traffic accidents during the exodus.
