As per a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, 193.6 million people were expected to join the homecoming exodus to celebrate Eid al-Fitr this year, which fell on April 10.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi ensured that the 2024 Eid al-Fitr exodus return flow is running smoothly and safely in a number of points in Central Java and West Java.

"We have carried out monitoring at several points, among others, Solo Joglo Intersection, Boyolali Toll Gate, Banyumanik Terminal, Kalikangkung Toll Gate, and a number of rest areas on the Semarang-Cirebon toll road," he said in a statement from his ministry here on Sunday.

He affirmed that the monitoring, which was carried out on Saturday (April 13), was aimed at ensuring facilities for the 2024 Eid al-Fitr exodus return flow transportation period are operating well.

"I carried out monitoring because there are two traffic congestion points, namely the intersection at Kalikangkung and the junction between Bandung and Cipali (Cikopo-Palimanan)," he said.

During his visit to the Boyolali Integrated Police Post, the minister also held a coordination meeting to ensure smooth return trips from Bakauheni Port to Merak Port.

According to him, a scheme for loading and unloading activities would be implemented at the ports so that they would not interfere with the return flow.

To monitor loading and unloading activities at Bakauheni and Merak ports, the minister instructed the creation of a 'war room', which serves digital information and data regarding activities at the ports.

“The loading and unloading activities will be recorded there (in the war room), including the planning. In the war room, each stakeholder will be present and coordinate well,” he remarked.

As per a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, 193.6 million people were expected to join the homecoming exodus to celebrate Eid al-Fitr this year, which fell on April 10.
