At around 9 a.m. local time, the gate was crowded with prospective passengers.
Most of them came from various regions in Indonesia who spent the Eid holiday in Jakarta and the metropolitan city's surrounding areas.
One of them was Farli, who was about to leave for Padang, West Sumatra, after spending his Eid holiday in Depok, West Java.
"Yes, I spent the Eid holiday here. I came from Padang to Jakarta and then Depok. Now I am going back to Padang," he said when he was about to enter the Halim Airport's departure gate on Sunday.
He said that the atmosphere of the Eid al-Fitr celebration in Jakarta and Depok felt quieter.
He and his family members chose to spend the Eid holiday in the two cities so he could meet with his relatives.
Meanwhile, another passenger, Syafrudin, said he would leave for Jambi in the island of Sumatra after enjoying the Eid holiday in Bogor, West Java.
In addition to meeting with his family members, Syafrudin chose to spend the Eid holiday in Bogor so that he could visit the tourist attractions in Jakarta and its surroundings.
He explained that the Eid holiday in Jakarta and Bogor was exciting because he could visit a number of tourist attractions, such as the Ancol Dreamland, the wildlife park Taman Safari Indonesia, and the National Monument (Monas).
"Here is more fun, because Jambi is less exciting. So, I wanted to go to Jakarta to play around," he said.
The Halim Perdanakusuma Airport management estimated that the return flow peak at the airport would happen on D+3 to D+4 after Eid 1445 H, or April 14-15, 2024.
