Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Muhadjir Effendy, apprised Vice President Ma'ruf Amin of the positive outcomes achieved during the 2024 Eid homecoming exodus.

"I reported data on this year's Eid exodus based on the interim evaluation results released by relevant ministries and agencies, including TNI and Polri, which show that we have managed the exodus relatively well," he remarked at the Vice President's residence in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Effendy, who was tasked as the coordinator of the 2024 Eid exodus management, said that the reports included data on the decline in the number of accidents resulting in casualties and injuries.

"We have seen improvements in a number of services this year compared to last year, as evidenced by a decline in the numbers of accidents, casualties, and injuries," he underlined without citing specific figures.

According to the minister, the decline in the number of accidents during this year's Eid exodus is in line with a fall of 52 percent in the value of compensation provided by state-owned insurance company PT Jasa Raharja compared to 2023.

"Based on a report from the president director of Jasa Raharja, the total value of compensation disbursed is 52 percent lower compared to last year," he pointed out.

He further said that he also reported to VP Amin about some major accidents that occurred during the exodus.

The accidents included the one on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road on April 8 which claimed 12 lives and the one on the Semarang-Batang Toll Road on April 11 that resulted in seven casualties.
