Jakarta (ANTARA) - Constitutional Court (MK) justices have begun deliberations to determine their verdict on the dispute over the results of the recent presidential election, following the conclusion of the hearing on April 16.

The court's Legal, Administrative, and Clerk Bureau Head, Fajar Laksono, confirmed that the verdict on the election dispute will be read by the Constitutional Court justices on April 22.

"The deliberation has been taking place since yesterday and is expected to conclude on April 21. The round-the-clock deliberation will take place until April 22, when the verdict is heard," Laksono said on Wednesday.

He explained that the deliberation will focus on discussing the case. Only justices relevant to the case and authorized, sworn officers will be present. To ensure secrecy, electronic devices will be restricted.

"The plaintiffs' arguments and details emerged in the hearing sessions, as well as the drafting of the verdict, which will be discussed until April 21," Laksono added.

The court will send letters to summon parties in the election dispute three days before announcing the verdict, he said.

The MK's decision will be final and binding, with no further legal avenues to contest the verdict.

"After the verdict for the presidential election is announced, the process is concluded. We will proceed by adjudicating the legislative election results dispute," he said.

Candidate pairs Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, who lost in the presidential election, have contested the election results.

They have both asked the Constitutional Court to annul General Elections Commission (KPU) Decision No. 360 of 2024, declaring Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the candidates with the highest votes in the presidential election.

They have also asked the court to decide in favor of the disqualification of Prabowo-Gibran and order a repeat election without Prabowo-Gibran.
