The MK verdict on the election dispute will be read out by the justices on April 22, 2024. The justices have begun deliberations to determine their verdict following the conclusion of the hearing on April 16.
"I, Prabowo Subianto, sincerely appeal to the Indonesian people, especially the 96.2 million who have voted for Prabowo-Gibran, to not carry out any action in front of the Constitutional Court or other places to maintain democracy and national unity and integrity," he stated.
As per the written statement received here on Friday, the president-elect said he understood concerns about the election conduct raised by his rivals who had contested the results in the MK.
He also understands that his supporters are keen to express their support for his candidate pairing with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, whom they voted for in the February election.
However, Prabowo called on his supporters to act in a peaceful manner and to not stir chaos, as 96.2 million voters have made their stance clear on the voting booths.
"We also ask supporters who have cast their vote (for us) to be vigilant, careful, and not be provoked by parties seeking to stir conflict or discord," he emphasized.
Prabowo reminded his supporters that restraint does not mean weakness, as the interest of the people and the nation's unity should remain the foremost priority.
"We should remain calm and restrain ourselves. We should allow MK justices to exercise their noble duty in wisdom and prioritize the people's interests for our beloved Indonesian nation," the president-elect remarked.
In concert with Prabowo, the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) appealed to their supporters to abstain from conducting protests at the MK.
"From this evening, our team will work hard to inform all supporters who prepare themselves to attend the 'peaceful action' which has gone viral on social media and the mass media (to call off the protest)," TKN's manager for volunteers, Haris Rusli Moti, stated here on Thursday (April 18).
