The use of digital technology in Indonesia is considered to have a positive impact on the progress of the country and economy, Patria remarked.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has huge potential in digital economy development, so it needs to be managed properly, Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics Nezar Patria stated.

"Indonesia is one of the countries in Southeast Asia that has great potential in digital economy development. Indonesia's digital transformation has almost reached the level of maturity that should be seen in the region," he remarked here on Tuesday.

During the webinar titled "Digital Transformation Towards a Golden Indonesia" as monitored from here, Patria said, the World Economic Forum had projected Indonesia's contribution in the digital economy to reach US$366 billion out of Southeast Asia's potential of US$1 trillion in 2030.

For this reason, the government, along with stakeholders, had continued to strive for inclusive digital transformation for all Indonesians.

The use of digital technology in Indonesia is considered to have a positive impact on the progress of the country and economy, Patria remarked.

He emphasized that inclusivity in the digital sector is essential for economic equality and equal distribution.

He said almost 90 percent of Indonesia's territory has been served with 2G-4G networks. Meanwhile, internet coverage has reached 80 percent of the population, according to the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII).

This figure is in line with the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045, where digital technology utilization can support management of the demographic bonus, where the productive age dominates the population.

"Many countries in the world can advance after passing and managing their demographic bonus properly," the deputy minister noted.

He said that the telecommunications, technology, and financial services are the sectors that adopt digital transformation the most.

Hence, the government continues to encourage digital transformation in various sectors in order to boost global competitiveness.
