"We are among the few 30 countries that have adopted the child protection in the digital space (initiative)," he said after the "2024 Road to World Public Relations Forum" here on Tuesday.
Setiadi added that the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) is working with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry to build a safe digital space for children.
He also underlined the importance of parents' role in the effort to protect children in the digital space.
"The current issue is how to be parents in the digital age because parents must also understand the development (in the digital realm), not only protect their children," he explained.

He said that the government is preparing a draft regulation on child protection in the digital space, which will include providing assistance to children who fall victim to violence in the digital space.
Kominfo's director general of public information and communication, Usman Kansong, informed that the regulation will focus on the role of three main stakeholders, namely digital technology makers, the government, and society.
In this case, Kansong said, the government is responsible for formulating and enforcing regulations, while digital technology innovators need to pay attention to child protection aspects in developing their products.
Society, including parents, he added, play a role in supervising children's activities in the digital space.
"So, there are three stakeholders. In this case, we regulate the technology makers for the sake of protecting our children, as they are the nation's future," he said.
