Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, invited all parties in the country to improve the safety of children in the digital space.

"We invite all parties in Indonesia to improve the safety of children in the digital space. For parents, assist the 'journey' of children on social media and ensure that children consume positive content," the minister remarked during the launch of the #AnakIndonesiaAmanDigital (#IndonesianChildrenSafeInTheDigitalSpace) campaign here on Tuesday.

The launch of the #AnakIndonesiaAmanDigital campaign aims to empower parents in Indonesia regarding the safety of teenagers on social media. The campaign is conducted in line with the launch of the parental supervision feature on Instagram.

Puspayoga deems it crucial for parents to become equal discussion partners with their children to offer them a lucid understanding of the pros and cons of social media.

The campaign is expected to push Indonesian parents to move actively in assisting and supervising their children to use the internet wisely.

"The use of gadgets must be regulated and monitored, so that children are mentally prepared to use gadgets as a means to develop themselves and to choose good from bad," she remarked.

The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection has made various efforts for child protection, including developing the "children's friend" information center concept.

The information center is an integrated place developed from a library and information service, so that children can gain various types of knowledge and partake in various activities.

In addition to the children's friend information center, the ministry has launched the Women and Children's Friend call center or SAPA129.

The call center service provides access to women experiencing violence and children in need of special protection. The SAPA129 service can be accessed through the 129 hotline or through WhatsApp number +628111129129.
