Jokowi made the statement at the 2024 National Health Working Meeting at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in South Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday.
"The medium- and long-term development plans should be connected down to the regional government. The central and regional governments should be heading in the same direction," the president emphasized.
According to Jokowi, the country needs medium- and long-term development plans in the health services sector to integrate all services.
Hence, to this end, the Health Ministry, as the organizer of this event, with two thousand attendees, presented representatives from the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) officials from all cities and districts as well as provinces in Indonesia.
"Representatives from Bappeda were also invited to this event to provide an understanding of the integration. It must be connected. If everything works together, we can see significant progress in the health sector in Indonesia," the president remarked.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, as the committee chairman, stated that this year's national meeting is expected to change the paradigm of health planning in Indonesia.
His side would harmonize the preparation of the Health Sector Master Plan as a direction for the central and regional governments in planning, budgeting, and executing health programs in the regions.
Sadikin stated that this would change the paradigm in health planning, from program follows money to money follows program.
"The health budget will not be set at five percent or 10 percent, but rather, in accordance with program priority needs. This paradigm shift is important for regional governments. They must understand it," the minister emphasized.
In order to realize this goal, he sought the participation of health services spread across 514 districts and cities, including involvement of the general hospital (RSUD) directors and Bappeda.
