The 10th World Water Forum in Bali is a monumental meeting to transform all policies, spirits, and enthusiasm, for us to face the future together…Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry has described the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) as a milestone for accelerating the realization of access to clean water and proper sanitation.
"The 10th World Water Forum is a milestone in accelerating one of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets, namely access to clean water and proper sanitation," the PUPR Minister’s expert staff for technology, industry, and environment, Endra S. Atmawidjaja, said here on Thursday.
He informed that Indonesia will showcase several projects at the 10th WWF, which is scheduled to be held in Bali from May 18–25, 2024. He expressed the hope that through the meeting, various forms of cooperation and agreement could be implemented.
"Indonesia will share experiences in facing challenges in the management of water resources and its success," he added.
Atmawidjaja, who is also serving as deputy chairperson I of the National Secretariat for the Organization of the 10th WWF, said that stakeholders will collaborate in seeking solutions to world water issues at the forum.
Meanwhile, the PUPR Minister's expert staff for water resources, Firdaus Ali, said that the 10th WWF will be the biggest meeting to be held in Indonesia after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indonesia is the third country in Asia to host the WWF after Japan and South Korea.
"The 10th World Water Forum in Bali is a monumental meeting to transform all policies, spirits, and enthusiasm, for us to face the future together, making water a source of life and peace, not the other way around as a source of conflict and disaster," Ali said.
Indonesia was chosen to host the 10th WWF, themed "Water for Shared Prosperity," during the General Assembly of the World Water Council (WWC) in Senegal in 2022.
The WWF is an international meeting of stakeholders in the water resources sector, such as governments, parliaments, political leaders, multilateral institutions, politicians, academicians, civil society, and business players, among others.
The upcoming forum will cover six sub-themes: water security and prosperity; water for humans and nature; disaster risk reduction and management; governance, cooperation, and hydro diplomacy; sustainable water finance; and knowledge and innovation.
