"Therefore, we must be able to have better management capabilities, which are supported by observation management that produces good data and so on, so that we can design policies better because water is the source of life,"Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) will push the integration of water data across domains and across countries in the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in order to better design water-related policies.
"So, the integration of information or data needs to be unified," said BMKG Deputy for Climatology Dr. Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan to ANTARA, here on Sunday.
He said that the water management domain includes handling water in the atmosphere, surface and also water in the ground.
He said the integration of data and information in the three domains needs to be unified so that policy makers in the three domains can design policies better in handling water issues.
Therefore, BMKG will strive to push increased integration of data and information in the World Water Forum which will be held in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.
In addition to data integration, BMKG will also promote issues related to hydrological disasters in one of the sub-themes related to disaster risk reduction and management in the forum.
"Yes, that will be the sub-theme discussed at the forum, about disaster risk reduction and management, so that we can handle water better, so that more water can be used and to reduce the impact of disasters," said Sopaheluwakan.
The 10th World Water Forum will be focusing discussion on four points, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disasters.
The deputy hopes that the forum will be able to produce solutions in better water management so that policy makers can design better policies.
"So, I hope that this limited, rare and contested water resource can be used harmoniously or fairly for all humans on Earth," he said.
"Therefore, we must be able to have better management capabilities, which are supported by observation management that produces good data and so on, so that we can design policies better because water is the source of life," he added.
