"We are striving to succeed in agrarian reform using various instruments, including the land redistribution program. In principle, we aim to bring about welfare and justice to a broader population," he noted in the ATR Ministry's statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
AHY made the statement at a dinner with Indonesian senior diplomats at the Indonesian Consulate General in New York, the United States, on Friday (May 10).
"My predecessor in the office, Mr. Hadi Tjahjanto, once told me that agrarian issues account for around 60 percent of the total complaints he receives in his new office, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs," he told the diplomats.
On the occasion, AHY also shed light on his plan to accept the invitation of the World Bank to attend the Global Land Policy Forum, where he will share Indonesia's success story in mapping out and registering around 112 million parcels of land.
The minister said that half of the millions of land parcels were registered under the administration of President Joko Widodo.
During the World Bank's forum, AHY said he would represent the Indonesian Government to introduce the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) Program, under which Indonesia has managed to map out and register 10 million parcels of land on average annually.
According to ATR Minister's Regulation No. 20 of 2021 concerning the control and utilization of abandoned areas and lands, agrarian reform is meant to comprehensively improve the administration and utilization of lands in pursuit of people's welfare.
