Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has called on regional governments to enhance collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure precise distribution of subsidized fuel and compensation for fuel price hikes.

Eman Salman Arief, a BPH Migas Committee member, in a statement issued on Sunday, emphasized the importance of synergy between the agency and provincial governments.

"It can be realized through a cooperation agreement between BPH Migas and provincial governments regarding control, guidance, and supervision," he said after opening a meeting with regional governments in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on Friday.

This agreement would enable provincial governments to issue recommendation letters in accordance with legal provisions. It also facilitates monitoring of fuel allocation and distribution based on these recommendations.

Wahyudi Anas, another committee member, expects the cooperation agreement to benefit both BPH Migas and regional administrations.

BPH Migas Secretary Patuan Alfon S. stated that this agreement serves as the foundation for controlling and monitoring the distribution of subsidized fuel and compensatory measures.

Among the provinces, the Riau Islands has already established a cooperative arrangement with BPH Migas.

Luki Zaiman Prawira, the Riau Islands' Assistant for Economy and Development, praised the integrated work system resulting from their collaboration.

He said that BPH Migas promptly addresses issues raised by the provincial government, even deploying teams for assistance.
