"The water bombing helicopter arrived in Pekanbaru on Monday. The helicopter flew from Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, to Palembang, South Sumatra, then to Pekanbaru, Riau," chief executive of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) - Riau, M. Edy Afrizal, informed on Monday.
The Kamov KA32T RA31009 type helicopter with a bombing capacity of five thousand liters landed at Roesmin Nurjadin Pekanbaru Air Base, he said.
"Now, we have three helicopters on standby in Riau, namely two patrol helicopters with one of them provided by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and one water bombing helicopter from BNPB," Afrizal added.
He hoped the additional helicopter would help optimize the prevention and handling of forest and land fires in Riau.
