Speaking before the groundbreaking of the PLN Hub in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday, he said that it would supply adequate electricity required for operating the National Data Center, which is expected to help Indonesia implement an electronic-based government system.
"The existence of the PLN Hub will highly facilitate the operations of the National Data Center in Nusantara," he noted, according to a statement released by his ministry in Jakarta.
In addition to supporting the data center, the PLN Hub will play a key role in supplying reliable electricity, which is needed to ensure optimal 5G network services in Indonesia's future seat of government, he said.
The minister then underlined that 5G technology does not only enable high-speed Internet services, adding that he believes a proper 5G network would also help augment the quality of public services.
"A 5G network will facilitate us to implement an electronic-based government system," he added.
Setiadi further said that he considers the development of the PLN Hub a testament to the government's commitment to providing the public with the finest digital connectivity.
To ensure reliable digital connectivity in Nusantara, PLN will need to work in synergy with telecommunications operators, he added.
Meanwhile, PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo said that Nusantara's electricity ecosystem will rely on renewable energy and be supported by a smart system.
"One of our tasks is to build a smart, green, and beautiful electricity ecosystem. We are aiming for a renewable energy-based ecosystem," he added.
