"We will improve the quality of human resources starting from the womb and in the first one thousand days of life," the ministry's expert staff, Agus Suprapto, stated here on Wednesday.
He made the remarks at the 2024 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Center seminar held at the National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) Office here on Wednesday.
Suprapto pointed out that cases of poverty, hunger, and health, which have impacted the community, were also influenced by the quality of pregnancy.
He assessed that high-quality pregnancy will be able to produce quality offspring as well, which in the future can become sustainable human resources for Indonesia.
Hence, Suprapto remarked that awareness of the first one thousand days of life is included in the core of the human development cycle program.
The program was initiated by the ministry and is contained in the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
"The hope is that the generation after us will be richer, possess greater character, and have more savings than us. If they have more savings, they can finance themselves, their families, their education, and for the nation," he remarked.
In pursuit of realizing sustainable human resources, Indonesia is facing major challenges, considering the demographic bonus that will peak in 2030.
Hence, to this end, Suprapto expressed hope that all people would pay attention to the first thousand days of life as initial capital in building sustainable human resources.
Suprapto also encouraged educational institutions and universities in Indonesia to produce quality students who can become sustainable human resources towards realizing the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
