ISCN's establishment will strengthen the collaboration and role of SDG centers throughout Indonesia through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and innovation…
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) launched the Indonesia Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Center Network (ISCN) on Wednesday to coordinate efforts to achieve the SDG targets.

"ISCN's establishment will strengthen the collaboration and role of SDG centers throughout Indonesia through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and innovation, which are expected to help Indonesia accelerate the achievement of SDG targets," Bappenas' deputy for maritime affairs and natural resources, Vivi Yulaswati, said at the 2024 SDG Center Conference, which was followed online from here.

The ISCN was inaugurated by Bappenas Minister Suharso Monoarfa.

Bappenas has held a communication forum since May 30, 2024, to bring together administrators, including the leaders of SDG centers from various Indonesian universities, to strengthen their networking.

Meanwhile, some figures have been selected to be on the ISCN's board of directors.

In addition to enabling the exchange of knowledge, experience, and resources, ISCN will also coordinate between the SDG centers at universities across the country.

It will be a place for collaboration among stakeholders and the implementation of SDGs in each region.

So far, 51 SDG centers have been set up by Indonesian universities.

"SDG centers in universities have developed various activities for the implementation of SDGs in their respective regions," Yulaswati said.

As of 2023, Indonesia had a target to achieve 62 percent of the 224 SDG indicators.

In particular, 138 indicators have been reached, 55 need special attention, and 31 indicate improvement or will be achieved.

"This was delayed due to COVID-19, we only have six years (to meet SDG 2030). We need to achieve the 2030 SDG Agenda in a timely manner," Yulaswati said.
