"Russia is one of Indonesia's largest economic partners. We want to continue the cooperation between us and hope to develop it in the future to achieve greater mutual understanding," Hartarto noted in a statement from the coordinating ministry in Jakarta, Thursday.
The meeting took place at Medvedev's official residence on the outskirts of Moscow on Tuesday (June 11).
Medvedev is also ex-president of Russia for the 2008-2012 period and former prime minister of Russia for the 2012-2020 period.
"Indonesia welcomes this meeting as part of the efforts to improve relations between Indonesia and Russia in the future," Hartarto affirmed.
On the occasion, he also expressed various views on other global and strategic matters, including global geopolitical issues and positive dynamics between the two countries.
Welcoming Minister Hartarto at his official residence, Medvedev was vocal about Indonesia's important role and position for Russia.
"Indonesia is Russia's main partner and the largest in the Asia-Pacific region," Medvedev stated.
Moreover, Medvedev was glad that the meeting took place and expressed hope to be able to discuss various other forms of cooperation and global issues that guarantee world security.
"We are happy to develop this component within our contacts. Let us discuss cooperation to discuss global issues—issues that ensure security on this planet," Medvedev stated.
"This meeting is an excellent opportunity to establish contacts for the development of multifaceted relations between our countries," he added.
