Beijing (ANTARA) - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to emphasize the stability of Indonesia-China relations.

"Minister Luhut first conveyed President Joko Widodo's sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, reiterating that Indonesia attached great importance to relations with China," Pandjaitan noted in a release from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs received in Beijing, China, Thursday (June 13).

Pandjaitan also emphasized that Indonesia adheres to the One China principle and is committed to encouraging the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.

The meeting between Pandjaitan and Foreign Minister Wang Yi took place in Jilin, China. Pandjaitan is also known to be the cooperation coordinator between Indonesia and China.

"Coordinating Minister Luhut said the China-Indonesia High-Level Dialogue Cooperation Mechanism plays an important role in implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and encouraging cooperation in various fields," the statement said.

The mechanism is expected to carry out its functions optimally, broaden its scope, and encourage more practical cooperation between the two countries to achieve more results.

"Indonesia is willing to actively promote the concepts of the 'global maritime axis' and the 'Belt and Road Initiative', operate the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train, and jointly create more cooperative projects," Pandjaitan remarked.

Pandjaitan is also said to have congratulated scientific researchers from both countries for successfully completing the first deep-sea exploration together.

He hopes to further intensify cooperation in the fields of maritime affairs, fisheries, medical and health care, artificial intelligence, food security, environment, and energy, as well as strengthen exchanges between communities.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed that over the years, relying on China-Indonesia's high-level dialogue and cooperation mechanism, the two countries have maintained close strategic communication and coordination and promoted sustainable development.

"Next year will mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, and the development of bilateral relations faces new and important opportunities," Wang Yi stated.

"We are ready to work together with Indonesia in accordance with the strategic direction of the two heads of state," he remarked.

Yi said that in the future, the two countries need to build a strategic model to support complementary mutual trust so as to provide further benefits for the people of both countries.

"Both sides should plan the next stage of the high-level dialogue, consolidate mutual trust, and continue to firmly support each country's core interests," Yi noted.

Yi remarked that in the future, China will continue to focus on the "Belt and Road Initiative" cooperation, ensure the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train operation and management, as well as expand two flagship projects, namely the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor and "Two Countries, Twin Parks."

China is also focused on expanding cooperation in the main areas of the digital economy, environmentally friendly development, improving people's livelihoods, strengthening synergy of development strategies, and leading the continuous improvement of practical cooperation, Wang Yi added.

By utilizing the China-Indonesia Maritime Cooperation Fund, the two sides can carry out more mutually beneficial cooperation projects and promote maritime cooperation to achieve new results. The two ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
