"It is not from (the Communication and Informatics Ministry)," the ministry's Director General of Application and Informatics, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, confirmed here on Wednesday.
According to the Cek Hoaks (Hoax Check) feature on the Aduankonten.id website managed by the ministry, information that says the "elaelo.id" site is "Under Construction by Kominfo" is untrue.
The platform elaelo.id has been popularly discussed in Indonesian social media following the issue of blocking X, formerly Twitter, by the government due to its policy of allowing adult content since the end of May 2024.
Earlier, some users of X, including up to one thousand first-time registered users, were offered complimentary blue ticks.
After it went viral, the elaelo.id website has been inaccessible since Monday (June 17), but it was able to be accessed as of Wednesday.
When ANTARA checked the ministry's list of electronic system operators on Wednesday morning, elaelo.id was not on the list.
Chairman of the Cyber Security Awareness Permanent Committee of the National ICT Entrepreneurs Association (Aptiknas), Alfons Tanujaya, advised the public to be vigilant while accessing elaelo.id due to the presence of incorrect information on the platform.
Tanujaya advised the public not to register as elaelo.id users, as they need to input important personal data or use the same password used in other platforms, which can lead to credential data being stolen.
"Do not run any application provided by elaelo. Their will is not good, so you have to be careful," he stated.
The Indonesian government earlier sent an official warning letter to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, asking it to abide by Indonesia's regulations on pornographic content, Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi remarked.
