The race will be held at the Mandalika International Circuit located in the special economic zone in West Nusa Tenggara on September 27–28.
Thohir expressed confidence about the holding of the third edition of the MotoGP race, offering maximum economic benefits to locals and branding the zone as the ultimate lifestyle and sports destination.
"I am optimistic about the Asia Road Racing Championship and Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia-MotoGP not only running as motorbike races but also providing a golden opportunity to promote Indonesia, especially Mandalika," he remarked.
During the launch of MotoGP Indonesia 2024 in Jakarta, Thohir recalled doubts voiced by some parties about the Mandalika circuit's potential during its early days.
The international circuit then turned out to be operational for 240 days a year, he stated.
He also remarked that state-run companies have been playing an active role in ensuring that local residents can reap economic benefits resulting from activities at the circuit.
State tourism holding InJourney CEO Dony Oskaria remarked that his company is committed to augmenting the quality of this year's MotoGP Indonesia management.
"Organizing this event is crucial to demonstrating Indonesia's commitment to creating sustainable tourism," he stated.
Meanwhile, state tourism development company ITDC CEO Ari Respati remarked that the MotoGP Indonesia 2024 would also feature several side events, including a music concert and an exhibition involving micro, small, and medium enterprises.
A series of side events will begin with a tree-planting activity involving the racers to promote green tourism.
