Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) instructed the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to audit the governance of the National Data Center (PDN) following the ransomware cyberattack.

"We have been asked to audit the PDN governance. We will conduct the audit," BPKP head, Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, remarked after meeting Jokowi at the Presidential Palace on Friday.

He did not detail the number of agencies to be audited following this cyberattack.

However, Ateh stated that an audit of PDN's governance or finances had so far never been conducted.

"The audit will be conducted due to this case," he added.

The BPKP head admitted to being unaware of the scale of impact of this cyberattack on various government agencies.

Ateh also did not mention the target time for the entire audit process to be completed.

"As soon as possible, the sooner the better," he remarked.

On June 24, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics identified 211 agencies affected by the PDNS cyberattack incident.

The following day, authorities found 71 other agencies that had been affected, totaling 282 impacted by the cyberattack.

On June 26, some 44 agencies expressed their readiness to conduct data recovery, while the rest were still in process. Of these, five agencies have started to serve the public after data migration.

Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi and Head of BSSN, Hinsa Siburian, have furnished information about the cyberattack to Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR).

According to Setiadi, there was no indication of a data leak due to the cyberattack on PDNS 2 in Surabaya.

He stated that efforts were still underway to restore the PDNS 2. His side aims for full restoration of PDNS 2 to be completed by mid-August of 2024.
