The minister explained that security arrangements were stepped up to prevent PDN from becoming the target of cyberattacks, as was experienced by the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2.
"We carry out improvement at PDN to have multiple backup capabilities and layered backup with good security. This is still progressing," the minister noted in a press statement on Friday.
Apart from anticipating hacker attacks, efforts to strengthen PDN are also carried out to support the government's performance in serving the community, Tjahjanto remarked.
The minister highlighted that the government had also improved the data security system when PDNS 2 was hacked some time ago.
Tjahjanto explained that improvement in the security system is reflected in the re-operation of public services at several agencies.
"As of July 1, the service has been running normally. Community services can be accessed by the people amid our efforts to improve our capabilities," he remarked.

Through such efforts, Tjahjanto is optimistic that work on the PDN will be completed as expected on August 17, 2024, and become the safest national data storage center.
The government is operating the PDNS 2 in Surabaya serving as a temporary data center while awaiting completion of the construction process at PDN.
The PDN will be located in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara, Batam, and Cikarang. Work on the Cikarang-based PDN is expected to be completed and officiated on August 17, 2024.
The PDN in Cikarang will be equipped with a processor capacity of more than 25 thousand cores with a memory capacity reaching 200 terabytes, storage of 40 petabytes, and electricity capacity of 20 megawatts.
On Thursday (July 4), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) underscored the critical role of data backup as a preventive measure against hacking activities.
"Back up all our national data to prevent the same incident from recurring," he emphasized.
Jokowi affirmed that the government has evaluated the incident in which ransomware was used to paralyze the servers of several institutions and ministries.
