Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Police chief General Listyo SIgit Prabowo has called on police personnel and all related stakeholders in communities all over the country to collaborate to make the upcoming regional elections run peacefully and orderly.

The police chief voiced the call for peaceful regional elections on the sidelines of a "Wayang Kulit" (shadow puppet) performance to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Bhayangkara Day in Jakarta on Friday evening.

"We need a synergistic collaboration from all elements of society to make the regional elections run smoothly, and the country's stability is well maintained," Prabowo said.

Successful regional elections would make Indonesia better, he added.

As reported earlier, the General Elections Commission (KPU) has announced that the regional elections will take place simultaneously across the country on November 27.

The phases of the elections, such as the registration and announcement of candidate pairs for the posts of governor and vice governor, as well as district head and vice head, will commence in August.
