The athletes are aiming to secure podium finishes amid a tightly packed weightlifting competition schedule.
Currently, Eko, Rizki, and Amel (Nurul Akmal) are undergoing intensive training at the Marine Base Command Headquarters in Jakarta under the guidance of the executive board of the All Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI).
Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the Paris Olympics, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, informed that the weightlifting team will relocate to Montpellier, southern France, on July 21, 2024, to adapt to the new climate.
The Indonesian weightlifters will then move into the athletes' village in France on August 4.
Eko, a two-time Olympic silver medalist and two-time bronze medalist, will make his fifth Olympic appearance in Paris, while Rizki will be competing for the first time.
The 20-year-old Rizki boasts an impressive record, including seven international gold medals, three silver medals, and world records at both senior and junior levels.
He recently clinched the 2024 IWF World Cup in Thailand in the 73kg class with a total lift of 365kg, breaking the previous record.
Akmal qualified for the Olympics based on the decision of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).
This will be her second Olympic appearance, following her fifth-place finish in the +87kg class at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The weightlifting competitions will take place from August 7 to 11 at South Paris Arena 6.
