When opening the supervision coordination meeting of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas), Tjahjanto underscored the need to digitize public services to adapt to the times.
"In this fast-paced digital era, digital transformation is no longer an option but a necessity," he remarked here on Wednesday.
The minister highlighted that the public has become increasingly literate about technological developments, especially in the field of information, as is apparent from the widespread circulation of information on social media.
Tjahjanto called for responding to this development by implementing digitalization to serve the community.
The minister explained that one effort could be to create a complaint channel application to make it easier for people to report their complaints.
"Breakthroughs like this must be realized so that the Police continue to exist amid the progress of times," he remarked.
Moreover, he assessed that the concept of service digitization can support the Police's transparency and accountability.
In addition, the minister urged the police to carry out service supervision to support on-target services.
"With support and supervision from Kompolnas, the National Police can adopt relevant technology and innovations quicker so that they can continue to develop and adapt to the changes," Hadi, who concurrently serves as Kompolnas Chairman, stated.
He expressed hope that Kompolnas and the National Police would collaborate to improve the concept of digitizing services for the community.
Earlier, on a separate occasion, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin also underscored the need for technologically literate military and police personnel in facing rapid development of the digital realm.
