Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inducted Sudaryono, chairperson of the Gerindra Party's Central Java Regional Leadership Council (DPD), as the new Deputy Minister of Agriculture on Thursday.

Jokowi guided Sudaryono and two other new deputy ministers—Deputy Minister of Finance II Thomas Djiwandono and Deputy Minister of Investment Yuliot Tanjung—to take the oath of office.

"In the name of God, I vow that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution and will carry out all laws and regulations as truly as possible under my devotion to the nation and state," Sudaryono said while taking the oath.

He vowed to carry out his duties, uphold official ethics, and work responsibly.

Sudaryono was born in Grobogan, Central Java, on January 23, 1985. He became chairperson of the Gerindra Party's Central Java DPD at the age of 38.

Prior to that, he was active in many organizations and served as chair of the Indonesian Market Traders Association (APPSI), chair of the board of patrons of the Pedagang Pejuang Indonesia Raya (PAPERA), CEO of Garuda TV, and CEO of PT Indonesian Defense and Security Technologies.

According to his personal website, Sudaryono graduated from Taruna Nusantara High School and continued his studies at the National Defense Academy of Japan under a scholarship program.

He then completed his Master of Management from a university in Germany and returned home to pursue his doctoral degree at IPB University.

He started his professional career in 2014 as a corporate secretary at Nusantara Energy. His career in politics began in 2010, when he became the personal assistant to Gerindra Party chair Prabowo Subianto.
