"Various credible institutions have predicted that Indonesia would become the world's fourth most dominant economy. I am among those optimistic about the prediction," he remarked, as cited from his office's statement here on Friday.
Karnavian drew attention to China's success in transforming into a global economic giant, saying that Indonesia will be able to achieve similar feats, provided the country utilizes its enormous resources effectively and continually.
The minister further highlighted that every country has the opportunity to compete and fight to reach the level of economic giants, considering the absence of a single global supreme authority that can dictate all nations comprehensively.
"Maybe currently, many are being skeptical about this, but I believe that it can happen," he reiterated his optimism.

He emphasized that Indonesia must become a prolific country by making the most of its huge workforce, abundant natural resources, and vast territory in order to become a dominant economy.
"We do not see many countries being blessed with those three aspects. I think only China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa wield those assets at their disposals," he stated.
In his speech, Karnavian also lauded the holding of the Satu Inspirasi event, which presented awards to figures from different regions and expertise.
He expressed belief that the awarding ceremony would motivate Indonesian talents in regions to continue to enhance their capacity and performances.
Attendees at the event comprised Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, President Director of state-run Bank Rakyat Indonesia Sunarso, and President Director of state-run gas and oil firm Pertamina Nicke Widyawati.
