Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono conducted a trial of drinking water from the Sepaku Drinking Water Treatment Plant (IPA) in Indonesia's capital city (IKN) Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

"The water quality trial is part of the running test to ensure the Sepaku SPAM is ready to use at the IKN Core Government Center Area (KIPP), including for the Independence Day ceremony," the ministry's Expert Staff for Technology, Industry, and Environment, Endra S. Atmawidjaja, stated on Tuesday.

During his working visit to IKN on Monday (July 29), Hadimuljono conducted a trial of drinking water from the Sepaku IPA.

This is part of the Sepaku Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) that provides drinking water to meet the needs of IKN.

"The test is an important part of the operation of the Sepaku SPAM to provide drinking water to meet the needs in IKN. The test also shows that drinking water from the Sepaku IPA is ready to use for Indonesia's 79th Independence ceremony at IKN," Atmawidjaja remarked.

In a video released by the PUPR Ministry, Hadimuljono was seen drinking water directly from the tap with a glass.

The IKN Nusantara Authority (OIKN) reported that the clean water supply available at IKN is safe for direct consumption from the tap.

The water supply is guaranteed to be clean and managed with a potable water management system, so the dispensed water is safe for direct public consumption.

The water supply in IKN has been prepared through a test of flowing drinking water from the Sepaku intake in the North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan, to the reservoir at IKN, located 15.8 kilometers away.

The raw water treatment system from the Sepaku Semoi Dam and Sepaku Intake has been prepared to supply water to meet the needs of IKN for a decade.
