Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Commissioners' Board of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar stated that the government is currently working on a restructuring scheme for the Micro Credit Program (KUR).

"We are waiting for the coordinating minister for the economy and the ministers related to the KUR steering communities to announce the scheme related to KUR restructuring in more detail," Siregar remarked in Jakarta, Monday.

He made the statement on Monday at a press conference on the Results of the OJK Monthly Board of Commissioners Meeting (RDK) in July 2024.

He remarked that the KUR restructuring will be given to KUR debtors who have business prospects and through an assessment by the bank.

"Hence, the restructuring is carried out for KUR debtors who have business prospects and then an assessment is carried out by each related bank," he remarked.

Siregar emphasized that the OJK fully supports the KUR restructuring program initiated and driven by the government through the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and also specifically uses the scheme formulated by the steering committee in the KUR program.

For the implementation of KUR restructuring, the OJK will use the old existing regulations, namely OJK Regulation (POJK) Number 40 of 2019 concerning asset quality.

"At this time, we have anticipated it to be able to implement the proposed scheme using POJK No.40 of 2019, which is a POJK that refers to the asset quality scheme," he remarked.

KUR is a government program of bank-funded credit to micro, small, and medium enterprises, cooperatives, and Indonesian workers in the form of providing working capital credit and/or investment credit supported by guarantee facilities.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked for the COVID-19 credit restructuring stimulus due in March 2024 to be postponed until 2025.

Hartarto is reviewing the option of extending the restructuring of credit affected by COVID-19 only for KUR.

He believes that the lower middle-class group is in greater need of the credit restructuring extension.
