Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) is preparing a technical implementation unit post in Nusantara, Indonesia's new capital in East Kalimantan.

"We have seen a bay in Nusantara with tourism potential. There, we are preparing to open a Search and Rescue (SAR) office by collaborating with local governments," Basarnas chief Kusworo said on Thursday.

The agency has established SAR posts in surrounding cities like Balikpapan and Samarinda to serve as buffer posts for Nusantara. It has also prepared a defense system, logistics, and human resources to meet SAR needs in the new capital.

The agency will recruit at least 1,756 SAR personnel in Nusantara and add personnel in Samarinda and Balikpapan.
