After August 17, we will prepare the process of moving civil servants (ASNs) from Jakarta to IKN.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) has said that all coordinating ministry (Kemenko) office buildings at IKN Nusantara can be used for government activities after the Independence Day celebrations.

"The Kemenko 1, 2, 3, and 4 buildings are ready and can be used after August 17, 2024," the authority's policy analyst, Jacky Habibie, informed at an online seminar here on Tuesday.

Habibie added that President Joko Widodo has started to hold government activities in Nusantara.

"Currently, the President has functioned the IKN for government activities. After August 17, we will prepare the process of moving civil servants (ASNs) from Jakarta to IKN," he informed.

He added that the move of ASNs from Jakarta to the new capital will begin in September 2024.

"The process of moving ASNs will be carried out in stages," he said.

The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry is still constructing the 47 apartment towers where the ASNs will live.

Earlier, during a limited meeting between the President and the State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas, it was informed that the ASNs who will be transferred to IKN are those who are single or unmarried.

The reason for choosing single ASNs to move to the IKN first is related to the readiness of residential and office infrastructure.

According to the initial plan, 11,911 ASNs from 36 ministries and state agencies were to be moved to IKN this year.

However, as all the residential infrastructure is not ready yet, the target number of ASNs who will move to IKN this year will be 3,246, excluding family members.

The PAN-RB Ministry has also made a plan to shift ASNs gradually until 2034.
