"In my visits to various countries for 10 years... I have found that public participation in Indonesia is among the best, most real, and most meaningful in environmental and forestry development," she remarked.
During the 2024 National Wana Lestari Awards, she highlighted some real actions in the field carried out by the community.
Bakar also praised individuals, organizations, and government officials in the field of environment and forestry who won 14 categories of the awards.
"Their very important and meaningful role has backed work in the environmental and forestry fields over the past 10 years," she stated.
Furthermore, she noted that Indonesia's environmental and forestry development efforts over the past few years had garnered global attention.
The efforts encompass the handling of forest and land fires, social forestry development, waste and sewage management, and law enforcement and conservation actions.
According to Bakar, global attention is the result of cross-party collaboration, including the community's involvement in various government programs in climate change mitigation and forest conservation.
"The most important thing is our corrective works (in the environment) with the participation of many elements of society," Bakar stated.
During World Environment Day on July 5, she also highlighted public participation in environmental conservation efforts.
"Indonesia's World Environment Day 2024 activities aim to strengthen public participation and attention on the importance of environmental conservation," she stated.
