This cloud learning will equip students who are just entering the industry with practical cloud skills…Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is collaborating with a leading global technology company to provide cloud computing certifications to students.
Besides certification, under the collaboration, selected students will be provided training so that they can hone their skills as digital talents.
"This cloud learning will equip students who are just entering the industry with practical cloud skills and according to the needs of the industry and the current technology-based job market," Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics, Nezar Patria, informed here on Thursday.
In the initial stage, the collaboration will involve 21 varsities in Indonesia, both private and state universities.
The participating students are expected to become entry-level workers who are skilled in the fields of generative artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering.
Patria underscored that the presence of similar programs could boost the number of digital talents, especially skilled cloud workers, who are needed to accelerate the national digital transformation.
This, according to him, is also in keeping with the Digital Indonesia Vision (VID) 2024, which is a strategy to bolster the national digital ecosystem.
"For the initial stage, this initiative is aimed at providing benefits to 8,500 students for the next 12 months, with an expansion plan of reaching more students both in metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas," he informed.
The global technology company involved in the collaboration is Google, which is realizing the cooperation through a program called Google Cloud Career (GCC) Launchpad.
The program, which is free of cost, will provide certification in Cloud Computing Foundations, Cloud Engineering, Cloud Data Analytics, Cloud Cybersecurity, Badge Cloud Digital Leader Skills, and Badge Generative AI (Gen AI) skills.
The program will be integrated into the ministry's Digital Talent Scholarship and Diploy (DIgital Employment) platforms so that participants can get information about internships and job vacancies through the platforms.
Google Cloud country director for Indonesia, Fanly Tanto, said that the initiative will enable students from 21 higher education institutions to get Google Cloud credentials that open up job opportunities.
Tanto informed that her side is hoping to involve more higher education institutions, government agencies, and non-profit organizations in the initiative to build a more equitable and inclusive skills-based talent ecosystem.
The GCC Launchpad program will open in September 2024 and will be made available via the Digital Talent Scholarship platform.
